Embroidered all-over, this 1960s dress is smothered in ombré toned pink and green flowers. The label reads Lyne Borel 38 Avenue de L'opera Paris and she was clearly a couture trained seamstress. Of note, both Christian Dior and Pierre Balmain made ready to wear dresses using this fabric for their 1967 collections. We have attached a documented Balmain example from the same year.
The bodice, of white cotton, is covered by a thin layer of white organza cotton and tailored to a sleeveless, boat-neck style. Mirroring the embroidered detail on the body of the dress, flowers are dotted across the top and the contrasting white bottom hem. Scallop detailing adds to the whimsical feel. A nipped-in waistline and pleated skirt accentuate the waist whilst a hidden, tonal white zip secures the rear, finished with a hook-and-eye clasp at the back of the neck. A coordinating, heavily embroidered belt cinches the waist further - note the extraordinary floral detailing on the buckle. The dress is fully lined with white satin and is in excellent vintage condition with no issues. A suggested best fit for UK size 8 or US 4. Our model is a UK 6-8 and 5ft 4in (163cm) and this dress fit her well.
